Take Control Of Your Life!

Baby boomers are not panicking or rapidly changing investment options in the face of the global financial crisis (GFC) but are, instead, actively reviewing their retirement objectives, including staying longer in the workforce.

That is the bottom line of a survey conducted by the Commonwealth Bank, the results of which were published this week.

The so-called ‘Retire Ready’ survey found baby boomers were ensuring they were better informed about their investment and retirement options and were opting to make additional savings and investments both inside and out of superannuation.

Commenting on the survey outcome, Commonwealth Financial Planning general manager Tim Gunning said while baby boomers might be sitting tight in the face of the global financial crisis, they were probably doing more than previous generations in terms of educating themselves to enable making the right financial decisions.

The survey found baby boomers had become somewhat more pragmatic about their ability to afford a comfortable retirement but indicated that while 50 per cent no longer expected to be able to afford the retirement lifestyle they wanted, only 25 per cent would consider postponing retirement.

It said, rather, the trend continued to lie with the idea that baby boomers would transition to retirement by continuing to work for their current employer at reduced hours.

Part 3: Will You Pass This Critical Sponsoring Test?

Alright yesterday we talked about “getting invited” by your prospect to present what you offer.
 
Today we’re going to talk about generating attraction, so you’re prospect will want to work with you, join you, or buy from you.
 
I’m also going to throw a little test in here that will instantly tell you where you stand when it comes to your sponsoring skills. ;)
 
So let’s say you’ve been advertising online.
 
Once someone has filled our your website form, capture page, or contacted your via email or personal message, then you should consider that an invitation for dialog. 
 
They approached you and your information. It was their idea. In this position, you have all the power, just as your doctor or CPA has all of the power (expertise), when you speak to them.
 
If you’re buying generic leads from a lead vendor, then you need to ASSUME the invitation. It will be more difficult because they won’t know who you are at this point, but you know they filled out a form looking for information about a home business. As far as they’re concerned, it was YOUR FORM.

An example of an “assumed” introduction might be this…

“Hey John, Mike Dillard here. I noticed you stopped by a website of mine this week looking for some information about a home business. How can I help you?”

Alright, now that they’ve initiated communication, our goal is to generate attraction between us and our prospect.

We want them to hunt us down and pester us until we agree to sponsor them. (Yes this is possible).

I’ve been studying human psychology for several years now, and what might surprise you, is that attraction between people isn’t really a choice, it’s a biological response.

By learning how to flip these attraction switches on within ourselves, we automatically begin to attract others.

You see people are genetically programmed to feel attraction towards others who have equal or higher levels of value and status.

Just think about your personal experiences and you’ll find this to be true…

Do doctors hang out with the crews that mow their lawn?

As a woman, are you more attracted to a man who has a higher social status level than you, no matter what he looks like?

Are you attracted to, and aspire to be someone more successful than yourself within your industry?

I know these are pretty basic scenarios, but you can extrapolate them to no end.

The bottom line is that the level of personal value and status you give yourself and demonstrate, compared to the level your prospect has, will determine if you’ll ever sponsor them.

This actually began back in our cave man days and it was crucial to our survival.

During that period in time, value and status was demonstrated by size, and physical prowess. A larger, stronger male held more value because he could fight off enemies, protect his family against predators, and bring home more food.

Females were biologically attracted to him because he meant security, stability, safety, and healthy offspring.

Other members of the tribe wanted to befriend and serve him, which allowed them to benefit from his power through association. Think of a Hollywood star and their entourage of friends.

Think of an industry expert or celebrity who provides their endorsement… Power through association.

The leader mated the most, had the most offspring, and this trend engrained itself into our very DNA over hundreds of thousands of years.

It’s no different today except for how value and status are demonstrated. Instead of physical size and ability, it’s typically through knowledge and means because you don’t have to be the biggest, baddest kid on the block just to survive anymore.

Specifically in this industry, the best way to increase your value to others is to increase your knowledge level.

Now do you think your prospects would rather work with a distributor who can teach them skills like online lead generation and attraction marketing, or someone who can’t really teach them anything at all?

The answer is obvious, so always remember that if you want to make the sponsoring process effortless, you need to increase your value to your prospects by increasing your level of knowledge and experience.

It has nothing to do with technological gadgets like auto-dialers, scripts, or lead lists.

I could give you all of those things, but if you didn’t hold any personal value in the eyes of your prospects, you would still find yourself struggling to build a team and acquire customers. 

How To Generate Attraction…

In order to generate attraction at a biological level, you must use Demonstrations Of Higher Value, (DOHV’s), when you interact with your prospects.

The opposite, “Demonstrations Of Lower Value” (DOLV) are usually what occur when a newbie is trying to recruit a lead.

If you do not demonstrate that your value is equal to or greater than your prospect’s, they will not join you. Period.

Recruiting is about leadership and you must demonstrate that you are the leader through both verbal and non-verbal cues. 

Here are some common Demonstrations of Higher Value you want to express:

•    Be healthy and fit. People who stay fit are more attractive. It shows self-respect and they have a more positive energy about themselves.

•    Have a good sense of fashion. Dressing with old sloppy clothes or with little fashion sense conveys a lack of social intelligence which demonstrates lower value.

•    Be comfortable with yourself. Stand or sit relaxed. You’re here, you’re confident, and in control of your world.

•    Have a sense of humor and smile. If you’re feeling like a victim, if you’re frustrated, or just pissed at the world, get over it. People don’t want that kind of energy around them. It doesn’t bring value or benefit them in any way. Smile and have fun. It’s attractive.

•    Don’t be needy. This is a common theme throughout this course. A man or woman of high value is comfortable with who they are as a person and where they’re at in life. It’s important to feel and convey this sense of abundance. When you’re emotionally attached to a specific outcome, prospects pick up on it and perceive you as a low value person.

•    Be unaffected by others. Don’t react to people’s emotional tests or try to impress them. The person trying to impress the other is always perceived to be the one of lower status. Don’t seek attention for attention’s sake, validation, or understanding. You are a leader. You get attention naturally without seeking it.

•    Speak to others with volume and confidence. Play the Cd’s in the course over and over again and listen to HOW Mark and I sound when we talk. You’ll hear a calm, caring confidence.

•    Always be the one to lead interactions and conversations.

I’m sure that if you think about what I’ve shared with you today, that you’ll recognize the role this human dynamic plays in your life on a daily basis…

Prospecting, sponsoring, and recruiting is all about psychology… Specifically, the psychology of leadership and human group dynamics.

Why can some people sponsor new distributors effortlessly, while others struggle without results for years?

How To Sponsor More Reps Without Hard Selling:

Within the sponsoring process, the goal is not to SELL our prospects on a product or opportunity.

That sounds completely backwards and counter-intuitive doesn’t it?

After all, what’s the point if you’re not there to make a sale right?

Well there’s a problem with “selling” when it comes to this industry, especially when you’re offering a business opportunity.

If you “sell” someone on getting started and buying into your opportunity through persuasive conversational and closing techniques that pump them up emotionally, and target their “hot buttons”, then yes, you will recruit a lot of people and make sales.

But…

Once that emotional state wears off, whether it’s a day later or a week, the buyer will experience remorse. The dreams of wealth and success will succumb to the harsh realities of business ownership… That there’s real work involved, skills to be learned, money to be invested, and much more.

These people quit and go back to their lives.

Now if you’re just going after a one-time retail sale, that would be fine. But that’s not your goal when you’re bringing in a new distributor whom you’d like to a see a commitment/partnership of several years from.

Unfortunately, this is what happens most of the time in this industry.

New distributors are just focused on the sale. They need the money, they want the self-gratification and recognition that comes from sponsoring a new rep so they learn how to throw out lines, read scripts, sell, over-come objections, and close.

Many will go on to achieve success because they sponsor so many people that some naturally stick and run with it.

But selling and sponsoring like that is HARD work.

It’s an uphill battle because you’re fighting people’s instincts to avoid being sold. They’re afraid of making a mistake. They’re afraid of being ripped-off. They’re afraid of failing or looking silly. There’s no TRUST.

In my opinion, there is a much better way that’s more enjoyable and beneficial for both people…

This is the new paradigm when it comes to selling in today’s market.

Your First Step: Get Invited…

The old fashioned methods of pounding the phones, holding meetings, pitching your business to leads, and trying to turn your friends and family members into business partners have come to an end.

“Prospecting” for business as you’ve known it, has become obsolete. It’s an irrelevant, old-school sales technology that is only pursued by individuals who have yet to discover the methods Magnetic Sponsoring is based upon.

But unfortunately 95% of those who start a home business will fail themselves, and the primary reason for that failure is that they didn’t acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in today’s modern, competitive market place.

So with that said, here’s the key to success in today’s market…

If you’re going to sell something to someone, you’ve got to find a way to get invited into their world as a welcomed guest, instead of a pest.

Now you have two options when it comes to building your business…

You can simply play the numbers and contact enough people until you make a sale through traditional old-school prospecting and this is the path 95% of home business owners take.

Or…

You can position yourself in the market place in a manner that allows interested prospects to find you, and contact you.

You’re now in the position of the knowledgeable service provider who’s expertise has been sought out and pursued. There’s a level of implied trust already present. At this point, sponsoring becomes effortless.

This is where you have to be today in order to break through the infinite noise in the market place.

How do you do this?

Simple… The most potent marketing weapon you have in your arsenal, is actually you – because unlike business opportunities, there’s only one of you in the entire world.

You want to market YOU.

How did I meet Mark years ago?

I was surfing the web and came across his personal website with his picture and some great information about sponsoring that he had posted.

That’s what caught my attention… He wasn’t promoting an opportunity like everyone else, he was offer his knowledge and help. I through, “here’s a guy that has value to me”.

We Believe In People : Building Confidence to Succeed

If you asked me after a few too many glasses of wine what I really love about this business, and why I am spiritually connected forever, it would be that we give people a chance for reveal their true greatness.

In a world awash with discrimination and restricted opportunities for success, we give people that honest chance. I adore that people can join a company and achieve beyond their wildest dreams.

And more importantly, they will ‘grow’ beyond what they ever expected. And the irony of this statement is that I have probably the least discrimination against me and are offered more opportunities than most on this planet. The world is open to us white, tall, educated, confident, able-bodied, western men. Yet I hate the discrimination this represents and laugh at their arrogance given the mess they have got the world into.

To truly LEAD in our business, you must love our opportunity for ‘personal greatness’, as Stephen Covey calls it. It means that you must fundamentally and completely believe in the inner potential of people, no matter what you see in front of you.

 Vitally, you must resist your urge to prejudge them as the annals of Direct Sales/Network Marketing is full of examples of the ‘unlikely superstar’.

 And be warned that the biggest problem with prejudgement is not in recruitment, it is after they join when they are building confidence to succeed. Why not have a honest look at how you perceive people today. Do you actually believe in people or is it just a show?

It starts with hope Everything in our business begins with HOPE.

Whether someone wants to buy your products and/or join your business, they do so with HOPE. You sponsor this person, prepared to invest your important time, based on HOPE.

I think [and hope], it is symbolic that my first blog is published at Easter Time. Which for us Christians symbolises HOPE. Whilst LOVE is the most powerful forces, it cannot survive without HOPE.

People Do Business With People They Know and Trust

Who you are, in or out of the workplace, is key to any networking relationship you build with yourself, your friends, or your colleagues.

When our actions are not consistent, they create confusion for us and for those we network with. So who are we—really? The person at home, the person who attends a social gathering, or the one who shows up for work: if these people are not the same, it eventually takes its toll. Changing personalities also wastes time and reduces effectiveness.

We must choose the behavior that represents who we want to be and live with it consistently. If our behaviors are very different, perhaps it is time to evaluate who we really are and what we want in our life. When we determine what that is, the result might necessitate a permanent change in behavior.

My friend Marianna dresses in a conservative business suit by day. She is an exemplary worker who has the respect of all of her colleagues. She does not smoke, drink, or use foul language. She supports everyone in every way possible. It is her way of achieving success in the workplace. She is a good model. However, outside the office, at home and on the social scene, her language is quite different and her manner of dress is rather provocative. She regularly goes out on the town with her non-office friends. One evening, a group of Marianna’s coworkers was entertaining some clients and happened to be at the same nightclub as Marianna and her friends. Her coworkers did not recognize her right away but noticed her dancing in a tight, low-cut dress that left little to the imagination. Marianna’s language and actions showed that she had been drinking heavily. Suddenly, one of her co-workers recognized her and let out an audible gasp of disbelief.

While the incident may have been a singular event, the would-be clients decided that Marianna would not be a good fit. Her coworkers were left to explain what had happened. The reputation that Marianna had worked so hard to achieve was tainted enough that she lost these new clients as well as the promotion she had expected.

It is the rare person whose behavior can be perfect at all times, but for those who want to move ahead and reduce personal stress, consistent behavior is extremely important. The fact is that we never know who will be watching. The safest behavior is to be consistent with who you are and want to be.

Another “Will the real person please step forward?” example, all too prevalent in today’s society, is the difference between family and business relationships and ethics. At home, the father or mother is the shining example of honesty and integrity, teaching their children about the good things in life and how important it is to be involved in the community, to give, to make a difference. At work, that same person participates in unethical practices to get ahead. When the person is “found out,” the family is hurt and relationships may be destroyed.

What works is being the same real, consistent person all the time. People do business with people they know and trust. Relationships are built on consistency, integrity, trust, and knowledge.

We all want to be thought credible. Credibility comes from knowing who we are, being clear on our behavioral boundaries, and habitually behaving in a congruent manner. Only you know the real you. Make sure you like that person, and then be that person in work, play, networking, and every arena you encounter.

The #1 Marketing Mistake: NOT Using An Email Follow Up System

Sometimes it seems that there is so much to do in order to succeed online.

* “Copy is king!” cry the copywriters.
* “Advertise or die!” shout the ad sites.
* “Joint ventures are it!” proclaim the JV brokers

So who is right and who is full of hot air?

Truthfully … no one knows.

What we DO know is this. There are basic tactics that you MUST use if you want your site to make sales.

Follow these tactics and you will succeed in time.

Avoid using these tactics and your success will be limited, and you will be trapped trying to get ever more visitors.

What are these basic tactics? They include, but are not limited to

* A product people want. (Many people miss this one)
* Copy that is persuasive.
* A price that is appealing.
* A way to create urgency.
* Getting targeted traffic.

And - the topic of today’s article - FOLLOWING UP with people who don’t buy.

If you were my brother or sister, and I could give you ONE piece of advice, it would be this.

Create the strongest follow up system you can if you want to succeed online!

IMPORTANT: Using follow up marketing is not only for those who own
a website. This method works for affiliates too.

So if you are into affiliate marketing or promoting an online business read on.

Yes my friend, it is true. NOT using an email follow up system is
THE #1 MARKETING MISTAKE!

The logic on this simply can not be denied. Think about it for a moment.

If your site is WILDLY successful, it will convert sales at a rate of about 10%.

That means that only 10 out of every 100 visitors buys something from the site.

This leads us to the most important question of all.

WHAT ABOUT THE OTHER 90 VISITORS??

I can tell you right now what happens to them.

* They forget you.
* They get distracted.
* They spend their money on something else.
* They buy a product like yours from someone else.
* Bottom line - they do NOT buy from you.

The fact is this … on the Internet it is the LAST SITE A PERSON VISITS who gets the sale.

This is why we MUST remind them to come back and visit again.

WE MUST REMIND THEM, not *hope* they will return.

Now if all of this “lost sales” talk is getting you down let me tell you that you can be of good cheer.

There IS an answer.

The answer is to create an email follow up system.

Email is THE killer application of the Internet.

Always has been, and still is today.

People can talk until they are blue in the face about alternatives like RSS or desktop readers.

But while they are doing that, people everywhere are succeeding using what may be the most low-tech tool online … email.

If you are with me so far, and you think that creating a follow up system might be right for you, read on.

=====> How To Create An Email Follow Up System

Here is the five step formula you can use to create a simple follow up system.

Using this process will help you create a basic follow up system
that WILL increase your sales.

I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS METHOD FAIL!

There are many ways to create a more sophisticated system, but this
basic process works like wings, and is 100% better than no follow
up system!

Remember, you do NOT need to be a great writer to do this.
Something is much better than nothing.

Candidly, I have seen nothing more than “Thank you for visiting -I want your business” work very well.

===> Step 1

Make a list of 10 reasons someone should buy your product. If you
have trouble with this, say it out loud like you were telling your
best friend.

If you can’t come up with 10 reasons, come up with 5.

If you can’t come up with 5, find another product! :-)

===> Step 2

Make each of the 10 reasons into a short message.

Here’s how to do that.

Write one paragraph of introduction. It can be as simple as “Thank you for visiting my site. I hope this information helps you”

Write one paragraph about the reason to buy you are covering.

Write one paragraph that summarizes your message, and asks the
reader to take a specific action.

Please note that being *specific* is the key. Tell them what to do next. Don’t hope they will figure it out.

IMPORTANT: Write your messages in a text editor like NotePad, not a word processor like Word.

===> Step 3

Now that you have your messages, you need a way to deliver them and get people to sign up.

Create an account with an autoresponder company or use the autoresponder feature in your shopping cart for this.

Any reputable company will help you create a sign up form, and help you get it on your website or blog as well.

===> Step 4

Set your message to go out every five days. Some argue for other schedules, but this one works and is a good starting point when beginning. You can ‘fine tune’ later.

Another method that works well is to send a message every day for a week and then send messages about once a week.

The logic here is that someone is *most* interested when they first ask for more information, so it makes sense to send more up front.

===> Step 5

Add a sign up box to every page on your website, inviting visitors to ask for more information.

Why every page and not just the home page?

Because it takes time for people to get comfortable enough to want more information.

Because they might miss it on the first page.

Because repetition works on the Internet, and the more you ask, the more you get!

When you have time later, you can add power to this by offering a gift, or using a “name squeeze” technique, but for now getting started is what counts.

If you have followed the steps above, you now have a basic follow up system that WILL help you make more sales.

As time goes by, you can add more messages, make the messages stronger, analyze which messages work best (and more) to make your series work better.

But hear me when I say that NOTHING you can do is more important
than getting this basic system set up today.

When you have a follow up system in place, you have the chance to
make more sales automatically, and get a greater return on your
advertising dollars than ever before.

You have a chance to make the most of every visitor, which is
called in fancy language “maximizing visitor value”.

Best of all, you make time your ally instead of your enemy, and
have the best possible chance of making more sales with less effort.

And that is a beautiful thing indeed!
