<p>There are many who believe that success in network marketing is based on setting goals, doing daily affirmations and visualizations a great company and great products etc.</p>
<p>But they are simply WRONG. Perhaps not intentionally, but wrong nevertheless. Lots of companies have great products and many of their distributors are not earning the kind of incomes the expected …if any.</p>
<p>There is a problem in MLM training. For example:</p>
<p>A very successful network marketer earning about $60,000 a month heard about me and my reputation so she brought me in to speak to one of her groups. There were about 1,500 of her distributors there. That morning I gave one of my very best performances I have ever given and they responded with a long and rousing standing ovation. They loved the message and insights I shared with them.</p>
<p>After the morning ended, this woman and her husband whisked me off to a private meeting over lunch.  It was clear she was agitated and seemed upset. Once the meal was served and the waitress stopped her frequent visits to the table this powerhouse of a woman got right to the point.</p>
<p>She said, “We are very upset at what you taught our people today!”</p>
<p>A bit shocked, I asked, “Why? They loved me!”</p>
<p>She quickly stated that she didn’t like the idea that I had told them all to stop doing the very things she had been telling them to do for the past seven years which included, goal setting, daily affirmations, visualizing outcomes and reading a myriad of motivational self-help books.</p>
<p>I am pretty bold and fearless when I have the truth as my foundation so I leaned over the table and looked into her eyes and asked kindly, but firmly, the following question: “Are those the things you did to reach the level of success that you now enjoy?”</p>
<p>I shall never forget what happened next.</p>
<p>This woman is one of the finest human beings you will ever meet. She loves truth and has a great deal of integrity. Here’s how she responded.  As soon as I asked her that question she turned and looked at her husband for about 10 seconds….neither said anything…then she turned back to me and quietly shook her head and then said, “No.”</p>
<p>That didn’t surprise me in the least. You see I knew her story of success and it didn’t include any of those things.</p>
<p>I then shared with her something that was quite an eye opener to her.</p>
<p>I said, “When you stand in front of your organization and tell them that if they will do what you have told them to do, they will gain the success that you enjoy and that they seek. They hey not only accept what you say as gospel truth but embrace it enthusiastically. With great gusto and total mental commitment they set about trying to do all the things you suggested.”</p>
<p>“But,” I told her “here is the rub…when a few months, or worse yet, a year or two has gone by and they still don’t have the success they hoped for …. They don’t question you or the ideas for success that you suggested. After all you have complete, undeniable credibility.</p>
<p>“Who do they question? They question themselves. They give themselves negative labels they don’t deserve and draw terrible conclusions about themselves …like I must not have what it takes or I am a failure. Then they get very discouraged, give up and wither and die away. Sure they may keep coming to meetings for social interaction is, indeed, one of the great benefits and attractions that people experience and love in network marketing…but do they earn much money? The answer is almost always a sad “No”.</p>
<p>If this has happened to you, and I’ll bet it has, you can change it if you want to with the truths you will learn from me.</p>
<p>First….to stop this from happening to you make sure you don’t fall into the trap of believing that the standard things taught for success in MLM such as goal setting, affirmations, reading books or listening to audio programs suggested by a big money earner or upline is going to bring you success.  They won’t.</p>
<p>There are only four things you must do to make money in network marketing. Assuming you have a good company and a good product if you do these four things with the right attitude and confidence… and do them consistently …you will make all the money you want. So when you hear anything other than what I have listed please understand that what you are being taught by these well meaning big money earners it is merely their way of trying to motivate you to do these four things consistently.</p>
<p>1)      Believe in and use the product(s)and get others to use them</p>
<p>2)      Do powerful and proper prospecting…a lot. Focus on finding business builders.</p>
<p>3)      Recruit those who are interested in making money this way. Turn the rest into wholesale or retail consumers if you can.</p>
<p>4)      Teach the new recruit what you know about the company, the product(s) and keep them focused on powerful and proper prospecting and recruiting too.</p>
<p>Then……..</p>
<p>Repeat, Repeat, Repeat.</p>
<p>Training over.  The mechanics of doing network marketing are really very simple aren’t they?</p>
<p>Second…take a close, in-depth and truthful look at your real motivations for doing an MLM business. I call them Core Desires. For example, if your love of the product(s) is the real reason you are interested but you don’t really like the business side where you must prospect acknowledge that truth and don’t give yourself any negative labels. You are not stupid. You do have talent and, in time, you could learn to do and become what it takes … if you really wanted to.</p>
<p>If you aren’t doing what it takes, if you aren’t getting the results you want, if you aren’t being the kind of person it takes just acknowledge that you just don’t want it badly enough to consistently do what it takes including making changes in yourself.   That’s all.</p>
<p>If your are truly motivated from within to do the business by one or more Core Desires and are willing to change if necessary to become what you must become then see steps 1 through 4 above and you will begin to experience the joy of success and the profit that is there in network marketing.</p>
<p>A very big income earner in network marketing was discussing with me her reason for success but when she told it to me it was clear that she did not have a clue how to quantify it.</p>
<p>We were talking about whether self-help books were the secret to success. She didn’t think so. She asked me if I had read a specific book about how to be successful in MLM and I told her that I had. It is quite a popular book.</p>
<p>She quickly retorted, “Well I haven’t. Well actually…I did read the first chapter which was all about how important it is to discover your “WHY.” (The book doesn’t tell you how to do that by the way. It assumes the reader knows their “Why” and most don’t.)</p>
<p>She related to me that while reading that first chapter she became exquisitely and vividly clear about her “WHY”. It had to do with having more time to spend with her precious children. She then made this startling statement:</p>
<p>“I never read any more of that book. I put it down and just went and did it.”  At the time we were visiting, her income was in the high 6 figures and only took 5 or 6 years to generate that kind of cash flow in her MLM business.</p>
<p>Everyone she tells her story to wants to know what the “it” was that she went and did. They are ready with pen and pencil to write down whatever she says because they’re going to go and do it!</p>
<p>What was the “It” that she went and did?</p>
<p>That’s the problem with most successful upline. They can’t clearly define what the “it “ is so guess what they do?  They fall back on the standard techniques taught which includes goal setting, affirmations, reading this or that book, etc. but that is NOT what they did to get where they are!</p>
<p>What the heck is the “IT”!  Somebody tell me, PLEASE!</p>
<p>Well here is what it is NOT. It is NOT great products with incredible testimonies that are sometimes nothing short of miraculous. It is NOT a lucrative compensation plan or wonderful, attention getting, company story. These things ARE, indeed, important BUT if these were all it took to become successful everyone would be making money…and most are not.  Therefore the conclusion must be that these things alone aren’t enough.</p>
<p>THEN WHAT IS IT????</p>
<p>Are you ready for the truth? Are you ready for that breakthrough that has been holding you back for months or years?</p>
<p>OK, here it is…It’s the ability to build an organization of distributors who are doing three things 1) using the products 2) getting others to use them and 3) getting others to build their own organization.  DUH!</p>
<p>If you don’t learn to do ALL three of those things you are destined to be a happy, healthy, pretty or thin, product user without much, if any, income from those great products that you know and love so much. You will be what I call a professional meeting attendee.</p>
<p>The question now needs to be… not what do I need to DO? Everyone KNOWS what to do…. (See 1 through 4 above) the question needs to be what do I need to BE or BECOME to build a large profitable organization with a lot of business builders?</p>
<p>I have had an organization of over 50,000 month people so what I am sharing with you is not theory. I saw a single mother earning $30,000 a month a nurse earning $10,000 a month and others with seemingly far more skill and time earning NOTHING!</p>
<p>I had to find out why.</p>
<p>Why was it that my sponsor never got past a thousand or two a month level, and I went on to become the top income earner in the company earning $80,000? We all had the same opportunity, the same comp plan and products but those who earn serious money had something else going for them in addition to what the company offered them.</p>
<p>What was that something else? I soon discovered that it had everything to do with what was going on between their ears and in their hearts.</p>
<p>And the beauty of what I have learned over the years is that we all already have that “something else” and, in fact, are already successfully using it in many different ways.  Some enjoy it in full blossom and for others it is in embryo…but nevertheless it IS there and CAN be developed and applied in network marketing.</p>
<p>You must have certain attitudes and characteristics in order to earn big money in MLM. To me big income in network marketing is any steady income over $10,000 a month.</p>
<p>Here are some of these essential characteristics attitudes that all successful network marketers have or must get:</p>
<p>·       You MUST discover your Core Desires (your real “Why”) which unleashes your Conquering Force so you will be able to demolish all barriers and obstacles in your way. My tape program can help you do this. An old Welsh proverb says, “The hand will not reach for what the heart does not long for.” What do you really long for? You must know or you will not excel. This is why I wrote, “How to Use the Conquering Force within You”, which tells you how to discover your Core Desires.</p>
<p>·       You MUST believe you are worth listening to. That you have credibility. Today. Now. Not when you are earning a big check for you will never get the big check until you have this paradigm about YOU.</p>
<p>·       You MUST believe that YOU are capable of leading others to financial success even though you haven’t done so yet yourself.</p>
<p>·       You MUST talk confidently about the business not just the products. BOTH are crucial to generating income. Most only talk confidently about the products. That is not wrong but it is only half of the business.</p>
<p>·       You MUST learn to do proper, powerful prospecting so you can sponsor some business builders. My internationally famous Learn To Earn audio program shows you exactly how to do that.</p>
<p>Success is not OUT THERE in some company, product or success technique. Success is an inside job so that is why I titled my best selling book The DNA of Success. It focuses on the inside building block – the DNA if you will &#8212; for ALL success. It is the root cause of all achievement. Once you master that you can apply it to anything your heart desires and you will not only excel but also have a lot of fun doing it.</p>
<p>I know what you are saying in your mind right now.</p>
<p>But I don’t have the necessary skills. But I am shy. But I don’t have the time. But I don’t have enough money. But I am not comfortable in front of people. But I don’t know how. But I have no confidence. But I don’t know what to say. But I am JUSTA single mother, JUSTA nurse, JUSTA secretary, JUSTA carpenter, JUSTA waitress, JUSTA real estate agent, JUSTA plumber, JUSTA heating and air conditioning guy, JUSTA doctor with no business sense, JUSTA bellman.</p>
<p>Here is the truth &#8212; You are JUSTA human being….and a human being has unlimited potential so don’t ever say you are “JUSTA” anything. What do you want to be? That’s the question to ask.</p>
<p>By the way…. I listed those professions because I personally know people from each of those who are now earning a six-figure income in network marketing. Hmmmm. What do they have that you need?</p>
<p>They know their Core Desires and have ALL of the above characteristics.</p>
<p>One guy told me with great heaviness and discouragement in his voice that, “I must not be cut out for this network marketing or I would have had more success by now.”</p>
<p>My immediate response was, “Well, Charles, when you were cut out, what were you cut out for?”  You see we are all cut out of the same cloth so to speak.  We are all human beings with the ability to learn whatever we want. We can add needed characteristics to our personalities or take away things that are holding us back. We can knock off the rough edges so we can roll smoothly…. Make a lot of money and be free …. or not! It is your choice.</p>

<p>I LIKE THINGS TO BE BLACK AND WHITE, RIGHT OR WRONG WITH no ambiguity. Don&#8217;t you? Knowing how to do it right saves me from thinking.</p>
<p>So, wouldn&#8217;t it be nice if there was only one right way to do Network Marketing?</p>
<p>Sure&#8230; would be nice. But I certainly haven&#8217;t found the way. And, I&#8217;m not sure why there should be only one way to do Network Marketing right.</p>
<p>I see many ways of doing our business that work. Every day, people succeed in our business, each doing the business a little or a lot differently.</p>
<p>For example: I hate using the telephone. I&#8217;m extremely uncomfortable whenever I&#8217;m in a phone conversation longer than 30 seconds. So, what would happen if my sponsor told me, &#8220;The only way to be successful in Network Marketing is to use the telephone.&#8221;?</p>
<p>Well, maybe I could force myself to suffer for a month or two, but after a period of continued suffering, I&#8217;d look for another way of doing the business that was more comfortable for me&#8211;unless I&#8217;d already found a way out of the business.</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve sponsored leaders who have built their entire business over the telephone.</p>
<p>The process works. I just choose to do it in a more enjoyable way for me.</p>
<p>My favorite method is to sponsor someone across the kitchen table. Maybe it&#8217;s my preoccupation with food&#8211;I don&#8217;t know&#8211;but that method works great for me.</p>
<p>But what about my leaders who build their business by phone? They&#8217;d quickly return to using the telephone if I forced them to do the business in my &#8220;table-top&#8221; way.</p>
<p>Some leaders build their business through opportunity meetings, product parties, person-to-person cold calls, direct mail, advertising, referrals&#8230; many different ways. I respect all these methods. I don&#8217;t use them all myself, but I respect them. And, as a leader, I try to learn as much as I can about each method, so I can help new distributors who choose one of these alternate ways of building their business.</p>
<p>Network Marketing should be fun. We should enjoy our business. So why would you want to ruin your fun by using a business-building method you hate?</p>
<p>HOW MANY DIFFERENT METHODS are there to build your Network Marketing business?</p>
<p>Lots. I&#8217;ve written five books on recruiting and each book is filled with different methods and techniques.</p>
<p>The biggest service we can render to new distributors is to help them find what method works for them. Then, let&#8217;s help them use that method to build their business successfully.</p>
<p>Egos and Hero Worship:</p>
<p>Here is where the different methods make people uncomfortable: imagine you are a leader and have built your group by running radio ads for opportunity meetings.</p>
<p>Great! It works for you.</p>
<p>However, being human, you decide that you&#8217;ve found the one and only secret to success. In fact, you insist that everyone in your group uses the exact same method (and worships you as the founder of the ultimate Networking success truth, too).</p>
<p>Then what happens?</p>
<p>Soon the radio is full of similar ads. Listeners turn off their attention as soon as they hear the ads run again. Some of your distributors run their own ads that don&#8217;t work. People with hearing disabilities will never hear of your opportunity. Some communities in the valley don&#8217;t get good radio reception. Some people are watching TV.</p>
<p>Well, you get the point. This one ultimate truth isn&#8217;t so ultimate, i.e., it won&#8217;t work for everybody.</p>
<p>The Duplication Myth:</p>
<p>I&#8217;m not sure who started the rumor that everything you must do in MLM must be duplicatable for your entire downline. Maybe an escapee from a mental institute? A communist insurgent? A government official? I see no need to insist on duplication of your activities&#8211;other than to get your ego massaged.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s okay to use different activities and methods to achieve the results you want. Just because your sponsor doesn&#8217;t do opportunity meetings, doesn&#8217;t mean that you are banned from using this proven activity to build your business.</p>
<p>Some people have natural strengths and talents and should take advantage of them to build their Network Marketing organizations.</p>
<p>One of my friends has a 10,000 mailing list of customers who know and trust him. What am I going to say to him?</p>
<p>&#8220;Don&#8217;t mail or contact your customers. Sure, lots of them would love to join and be in your business, but it&#8217;s not duplicatable! No one else has 10,000 customers. Don&#8217;t do it. You&#8217;re setting a bad example.&#8221;</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t think I could tell my friend that. It&#8217;s ludicrous. I&#8217;d encourage my friend to contact his natural market even though few people could duplicate his method.</p>
<p>What about someone who is a great speaker who motivates crowds to his cause? If your system insists that all activities be conducted one-on-one, across the kitchen table, aren&#8217;t you doing your speaker-distributor a disservice by not allowing him to use his natural talents to build his business?</p>
<p>The Key Difference:</p>
<p>Here is what we really need to duplicate isResults!</p>
<p>What results are we looking for in Network Marketing? We want to sponsor distributors and make them successful&#8211;right?</p>
<p>If we focus on results, we can allow people the freedom to achieve those results in many different ways.</p>
<p>Some will achieve results contacting prospects by mail. Some by giving product parties. Some by wearing three-piece suits and conducting opportunity meetings. And even some will achieve these results in Bermuda shorts at the beach.</p>
<p>The bottom line is: Don&#8217;t worry about duplicating activities. Focus on duplicating results.</p>
<p>Why Techniques and Rigid Systems Don&#8217;t Matter</p>
<p>In the end, it&#8217;s not so much what you do? it&#8217;s who you are.</p>
<p>Have you ever seen a new distributor excited about your opportunity? Your new distributor makes all kinds of mistakes and still sponsors lots of people.</p>
<p>Why?</p>
<p>Enthusiasm. Trust. Personal belief. These things show through your new distributor&#8217;s presentation so loudly that the prospect doesn&#8217;t care about the business details. Prospects join because of who you are!</p>
<p>They don&#8217;t join because your marketing plan pays 4% on level three in the alternate months, or because your product explanation took only 2.3 minutes with a magic Columbo close.</p>
<p>Prospects buy you&#8211;not your company.</p>
<p>How Do You Learn the Sponsoring Technique That&#8217;s Right For You?</p>
<p>I learned from personal trial and error.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s a great way to learn. Unfortunately it has two drawbacks:</p>
<p>It takes a long time to try and test different techniques. It could take years of trial and error and you may end up with scars all over your body (heart and mind). If you have a lot of time and can wait a few years to get your business started, then you are one of the fortunate few. Most of us want results a bit faster.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s expensive to fund all your trial and error campaigns. Very expensive. If you have money to burn, or just enjoy being poor&#8211;abused by credit card collectors, then it&#8217;s not so bad. However, most of us hate to waste money.</p>
<p>Those are the only two things I have against the trial and error method of finding a good sponsoring technique that works for you.</p>
<p>There&#8217;s a better way.</p>
<p>Read some books. Attend seminars. Consult with your sponsor. And listen to some tapes of people who have gone before you (check to see if they have scar tissue). Why beat yourself up and spend lots of money when you can read or listen to the results of the different methods you are considering?</p>
<p>Capitalize on the experience of others.</p>
<p>I think that&#8217;s why many Network Marketing distributors enjoy the Big Al books. They know that I&#8217;ve been out there in the trenches, continue to be in the trenches, and the techniques I write about are from experience. I leave out the hype. I don&#8217;t tell distributors what techniques to use, I just report them. Adults are smart enough to pick out the techniques they enjoy.</p>
<p>As my good friend Tom Paredes says, &#8220;Even if you go to work at McDonald&#8217;s flipping hamburgers, they still make you go through their training program.&#8221; With our business, so much more complicated than flipping hamburgers, don&#8217;t you think it makes sense to learn how to do it?</p>
<p>What Is The Ultimate Secret To Network Marketing Success?</p>
<p>The real secret?</p>
<p>It&#8217;s to build leaders and make them successful.</p>
<p>Distributors come and go. It&#8217;s the leaders who count. You want to develop a few good loyal leaders and then, if you choose, you can retire.</p>
<p>If I had my entire career to do all over again, I&#8217;d concentrate on building and developing one leader each year.</p>
<p>We talk about the cumulative effect of our efforts in Network Marketing. Well, only leaders accumulate. That&#8217;s why you should focus your effort into developing leaders.</p>
<p>I have a friend who started with me in Network Marketing 24 years ago. We lost touch until about four years ago. During those 20 years we both worked hard in Network Marketing.</p>
<p>When we finally met, I had a self-sustaining, large and profitable organization. He was starting all over again.</p>
<p>The difference?</p>
<p>I had developed some leaders during my 20 years of hard work. He had sponsored distributors during his 20 years of hard work. We both worked hard. Today, he has no organization. He is still starting over.</p>
<p>THERE IS A &#8220;RIGHT WAY&#8221; to build your Network Marketing business: Help your new distributors find what method works for them. Then, help them become leaders doing what they do best.</p>

<p>As you develop those leadership qualities, they will become the foundation of your business success. It will become less necessary for you to seek out customers. They will increasingly seek you out.</p>
<p>Sharing leadership qualities will be the foundation on which you will develop the other skills you will need: marketing ability.</p>

<p>There are three very important elements you need to have in place to make your &#8220;Attraction Marketing&#8221; model to work when you begin a process of generating leads, attracting prospects and pre-selling these prospects.</p>
<p>Start with setting up your &#8220;Web of Content.&#8221;  This is an integral part of this process, because it is the prospects first point of contact with you through the different forms of content you&#8217;ve created throughout the web.  This material can come in many forms; video, articles, press releases, squidoo and hub pages, ezine ads, forum posts, and tons and tons of other types available to you.  Many of these locations even allow you to create your content with little cost and even less hassle.  You can create this &#8220;point of contact&#8221; material even if you are brand new to the game.  Once you&#8217;ve set it up, it&#8217;s there forever literally &#8220;waiting like bait for a fish&#8221;. </p>
<p>This is the step where you first start using what you&#8217;ve learned about your target market, which I&#8217;ve discussed in a previous article, &#8220;knowing your target market.&#8221; When creating your content it is important that you start by &#8220;giving the prospect something without selling them something.&#8221; This establishes a certain amount of trust and starts to build your value to these prospects.</p>
<p>This leads us to the next element in this process, getting the prospects permission to communicate with them.  This takes place when the prospect finds one of the many points in your &#8220;web of content&#8221; (video, article, ezine ad, etc.) and follows your link to your lead capture pages.  Many people new to network marketing will start by using the capture pages provided to them by whatever system they have joined.  You don&#8217;t have to create your own capture pages, but it can be more powerful to do so, because it helps you to brand yourself so that you can set yourself apart from the crowd.</p>
<p>Once they have reached these landing pages they are provided with even more evidence of your value, through your copy and/or videos.  Prospects will then fill out the lead capture forms, giving you permission to communicate with them further, and now you will have another prospect added to your list.  But these aren&#8217;t just any &#8216;run of the mill&#8217; leads, they&#8217;ve already decided that you provide some sort of value making them excellent prospects.</p>
<p>Now that the lines of communication are open, you want to continue with the &#8216;give before you receive&#8217; principle of dispensing additional value in order to draw the prospect close to you and what you are offering.  Building this relationship is the way network marketers, using &#8220;attraction marketing&#8221; principles, are able to sell to prospects without having to &#8216;chase them.&#8217;</p>
<p>The first two components in this process lay the groundwork for our next piece to the puzzle.  This is where you continue to offer value until you earn the privilege to place your &#8216;offers&#8217; in front of your prospects.  This is done through a series of auto-responder emails and broadcast emails (emails you will send manually to your list).  It&#8217;s important to keep in mind, throughout this email campaign to keep it light and be yourself. You want to continue to build your value as a leader and not come off as a &#8217;salesman.&#8217;  After you have shown these prospects that you can contribute to their success and they see you as a valuable asset to their business future, then and only then should you present your primary business offer to them.  By this point the prospects who are serious about becoming a network marketer will trust that your business is the right vehicle for them to achieve their goals and gladly join your team.</p>
<p>Your auto-responder email series also provides you with an opportunity to incorporate any of your affiliate programs that correspond with the content of your emails, giving you the ability to &#8216;monetize&#8217; these prospects and profit from them several times over.  You can also integrate your affiliate products into your &#8216;web of content&#8217; to generate cash flow and leads.  Monetization is a very important aspect of network marketing, because 95% of the prospects coming through your system are not going to join your primary MLM program.  Marketing your affiliate products such as e-books, tools, video training series and etc allows you to profit from this large group of prospects even if they don&#8217;t join your business.  It&#8217;s very important that these products continue to provide added value and fill the needs of your prospects.  Applying this strategy helps you generate cash flow, erasing your expenses so you can stay afloat and continue to build your long term residual income programs.</p>

<p>Happy Chinese New Year!<br />

They say that the 21st century will be the Chinese Century after the American 20th Century and British 19th Century.<br />
 <br />
If you live in Asia or where I do, you would not doubt it.</p>
<p>Many Westerners see this strategic reality as an enormous threat yet whatever you think, get used to it or, do as I do, embrace the whole concept as an exciting challenge.</p>
<p>I think of the British giving the world the legal, economic and administrative systems so important to cultured life.</p>
<p>I think of the Americans giving us the entrepreneurial managerial systems so important for wealth creation and life improvement.</p>
<p>I see the Chinese 21st century giving us the cultural, personal and family systems so important in an open and rapidly changing world. We can easily forget that the Chinese were developed peoples living in grand cities inventing technologies when our fore-fathers were in animal skins. They have learnt what is important in a world of change.</p>
<p>Their lessons for us will always be based on &#8216;long term investment based on natural principles.</p>
<p>Some lessons:</p>
<p><strong>1. Family is everything.</strong></p>
<p>We have lost sight of this so much in our modern open world and we wonder why we are having so many problems with our next generation. Their rule is that you do business with your family FIRST, or the business is not worth going into.</p>
<p><strong>2. Health is the base of all things.</strong></p>
<p>The Chinese will spend a fortune on natural health products. They laugh at our Western medicine philosophies. </p>
<p><strong>3. Financial discipline is critical.</strong></p>
<p>They understand that this debt-spend binge of the West over the past decades will be our downfall. </p>
<p><strong>4. Education is the base of all long term success.</strong></p>
<p>Their kids are taught to learn from day one.</p>
<p>The greatest lesson the Chinese will teach the world is that you cannot force nature. Water will take the easiest downhill path. An extreme focus on beauty produces ugliness.</p>
<p>I welcome the Chinese Century. We, in the West, need their wisdom.   In fact, we need the wisdom that comes from all old cultures who have endured centuries of dramatic change, whether this comes from Sweden or Peru, Swaziland or Indonesia, Bulgaria or Mexico.</p>
<p>If you have any wisdom to send me from your culture, you bless me.</p>
<p>This is the year to build for the long term. To build it once so it lasts.<br />

A flood of new people will look at networking due to the recession.<br />
 <br />
Some will look because they need to make some money now.<br />
 <br />
Some will look because they need to create a new income and must start a self-employed business.<br />
 <br />
Some will look because the normal economic reality has changed so they will look at new things.<br />
 <br />
Some will look because the person approaching them has more confidence than before BECAUSE that person is so excited about their opportunity now there is a recession and they believe this is great for their business.<br />
 <br />
This is a fantastic environment for sponsoring.<br />
 <br />
EVERYONE can sponsor lots of people in this recession.</p>
<p>The fact is that many will not and the reason will be revealed in the next letter</p>

<p>An important survey finding buried deep in the article:</p>
<p>“three of four in the nationwide poll ranked financial security as important — and only 12% said they felt secure in their finances these days.”</p>
<p>Do you realize what that says? Have you really thought about those statistics?</p>
<p>What I see is that the vast majority of Americans ( and certainly those in other countries ) want financial security, but less than one of every eight people surveyed actually feel financially secure today.</p>

You hit the nail right on the head when you said that if you&#8217;re reading the article from a &#8216;doom-gloom&#8217; perspective, you&#8217;re not really &#8217;seeing&#8217; what&#8217;s being said.  What&#8217;s interesting to note is that  when people were asked about their level of happiness, their lowest levels of happiness coincided with bad economic news.  I find that really interesting, because it&#8217;s all about perspective. </p>
<p>News is just news (but usually there&#8217;s nothing &#8216;new&#8217; about it).  Whether we deem it &#8216;good&#8217; or &#8216;bad&#8217; is all based upon our perception and pre-conceived notions.  As Usana associates we see economic downturn as a huge opportunity, but what we need to be skilled at, especially now, is to help others to see what we see.  And contrary to popular belief, it&#8217;s easier to do this right now. </p>
<p>As Usana associates we must help others to see that what they&#8217;re currently doing or have done may not get them the American dream.  Help others to relinquish their hold on the need for a JOB and security and help them to get back to the American dream which is FREEDOM. </p>
<p>An interesting note within the article: A study sponsored by Northwestern Mutual and being released today asked Americans to define &#8220;success.&#8221; Topping the list were spending time with family, having a good relationship with a spouse or partner, being healthy and maintaining a good work/life balance.</p>
<p>Hmm&#8230;sounds like Usana can definitely help in that aspect.  Most jobs will not help others to accomplish those aspects that people hold dear.  We&#8217;re at a pivitol point here and we&#8217;re poised with the best company, best opportunity and best products.  Other associates in other companies are hitting the pavement hard right now.  I get prospected almost everyday by some other company.  There&#8217;s a growing knowledge that &#8216;traditional means&#8217; of making a living is not secure.  What are you doing to help change other&#8217;s lives? </p>

They saw the doom and gloom but didn’t see the RAINBOW!!!   It is a chance I took and I have no regrets.  It is my personal liberty.</p>
<p>I had noted to LISTEN at the specific time frame in the video what the economic forecaster answered to the interviewer.  The question was “So what can Americans do in this economy?  What are the better careers/jobs?” </p>
<p>HE said “ANYTHING to do with Health and Wellness.  Going Organic, anything green….” </p>
<p>We already heard Paul Zane Pilzer say it…long ago.  I am glad we are in the right place at the right time.  People are very sensitive right now.  That doesn’t mean they should bury their heads in the sand.  Some don’t want to hear it.  BUT I will FIND THOSE that do!!!!  Not everyone is going to heed the advice from anyone.  We have a responsibility to show them that they must let go of FEAR….. and the ones that are open to it, are the ones we want.</p>

<p>Or do you want to help people own their LIVES?  By helping those people you will own yours!</p>
<p>If you are looking to equip and build a person no matter the out come.  That is Sponsoring.  So tell me what is more appealing to you? Sponsoring or Recruiting?“</p>
<p>It’s an extremely important question, and over the past 10 years, I’ve come to my own personal conclusion on this topic.<br />
 <br />
The first thing we should recognize is that there is no ONE right way when it comes to sponsoring and recruiting.</p>
<p>Everyone has their own style and approach, and I&#8217;ll share mine with you over the next few days. </p>
<p>But first, let&#8217;s set the stage&#8230;</p>
<p>I was as bad as you could be when it came to recruiting for almost six years.</p>
<p>Calling me shy would have been a massive understatement. The thought of picking up the phone and talking to a lead made me physically tremble.</p>
<p>I’d sit at my desk, staring at the phone for hours. I’d make endless trips to Office Depot to buy that one last supply I needed to ensure my desk was organized and ready for business.</p>
<p>I’d wait until I heard that next training call, or to make sure my sponsor was available for a 3-way if needed before my fingers every touched the dial-pad.</p>
<p>It’s like trying to sum up the courage to call the girl you like in grade-school – but now you’ve got to do it every day for a living.</p>
<p>I was my sponsors’ worst night-mare because they knew I had the talent and ability to achieve incredible things, but I always let my own fears and demons get in the way.</p>
<p>If you haven’t been in that position yet… Where you just want to stick your hands out and shake someone senselessly because they just can’t snap out of their own mental prison… You will.</p>
<p>Everyone needs to be in a constant state improvement, because if you haven’t figured it out yet, this industry is utterly ruthless and will expose every weakness you have to the world. That’s the nature of entrepreneurialism.</p>
<p>Now for most people, prospecting and recruiting is a completely emotional event that driven by fear.</p>
<p>Fear of rejection… What if this person calls me an idiot, yells at me or hangs up? What if my friends make fun of me? What if I get my upline on the phone for a follow up call and they never show?</p>
<p>Fear of failure… I spent my last dime on these leads, what if I can’t sponsor someone? I told my upline I’d be his best distributor this month. What will he think of me if I don’t produce at all? I told my family I’d make it happen no matter what it takes… What if I fail them?</p>
<p>Fear of success… What if I do sponsor someone? I don’t know what to do with them and I could let them down. It would be all my fault. What if I build a large organization and they ask me to start leading people or speaking in public? What if my friends resent me for making more money than them?</p>
<p>Yes, this industry is ruthless. In the world of capitalistic entrepreneurialism, it always has been, and always will be the survival of the fittest.</p>
<p>Believe it or not, that’s one of the greatest gifts you’ll ever receive during your life. <br />
 <br />
It will allow you to truly see yourself for who you are – where you’re strong and where you’re weak, which then gives you the ability to transform yourself into who you want to ultimately become.</p>
<p>The sky is the limit – IF – you’re willing to pay the price.</p>
<p>My fears gripped me and controlled my life for years. I was at their mercy and my life was truly hell because of it.</p>
<p>After graduating from college, I packed up everything I owned into a small pickup truck and drove from Texas to San Diego California.</p>
<p>All I had was a dream and a successful upline mentor named Stu who was willing to show me the ropes.</p>
<p>At this point, I had been in this industry for five years and never sponsored a distributor or customer outside my family tree.</p>
<p>Now it was “do or die” time. School was over. I was on my own. It felt like my entire future was riding on this trip.</p>
<p>I found the only apartment in town that I could afford and unpacked the few belongings I had… My desk, computer, books, bike, bed, guitar, phone, and a lamp. <br />
 <br />
My sponsor and I had met a few days before and things were looking up. We had an incredible marketing plan in place and all I had to do is follow up with the leads they were going to generate.</p>
<p>A massive radio campaign had been produced, meetings were being held in town each week, and I had secured a strategic position within the group that had the potential to put me in the millionaire category within a year or two.</p>
<p>I fell asleep that night determined and confident. Things were going to be different this time. Little did I know we were hours away from waking up to a brave new world.</p>
<p>The date was September 10th, 2001.</p>
<p>We all know what happened next. Our big plans disappeared over night, the investors left, and people did their best to deal with the massive question mark hanging over the entire world.</p>
<p>As you can imagine, it’s hard to sell optimism and opportunity during such tragedy. Business was the last thing on anyone’s mind.</p>
<p>I toughed it out working for $8.00/hr at Best Buy selling computers. The business never took off and I never conquered my fear of prospecting.</p>
<p>Four months later I packed everything up and moved back to Texas. I had failed myself on all accounts but one…</p>
<p>For some sick reason that most people, (other than you), will never understand, I wasn’t ready to give up. I couldn’t spend the rest of my life working for someone else, and still look at myself in the mirror every morning.</p>
<p>I had to conquer my fear of the phone and I had to do something different this time if it was going to happen.</p>
<p>I came to realize that people are funny creatures. Most of us are willing to do things for other people that we’re completely unwilling to do for ourselves.</p>
<p>If I hired you to call leads everyday for $30,000 per month, would you do it?<br />
Of course you would.</p>
<p>Then why are you still unwilling and maybe even afraid to do it for yourself right now?</p>
<p>Having a “job” or assignment takes the responsibility off of us. We’re willing to make those calls now because “we” are not the ones getting rejected… It’s the company we work for.</p>
<p>We can separate our ego from the process in a job.</p>
<p>I took advantage of that and made my first dive into the corporate world as a physician recruiter.</p>
<p>It was a strategic move…</p>
<p>My “job”?</p>
<p>Cold call 200-300 doctor’s offices per day and try to get past the gatekeeper to speak to the physician.</p>
<p>I wasn’t able to make those calls for myself, but I made them for my boss.</p>
<p>Within five days I was a completely new person.</p>
<p>My fear of the phone was finally dead.</p>
<p>Months later I’d use the same tactic to conquer my fear of personal selling. I took a position as an outside sales person for a wire-less broadband start-up.</p>
<p>My job was to get into the big Dallas hi-rises and knock on doors, starting from the top-floor, working my way down until I made it through or was kicked out by security.</p>
<p>The plan had worked, and the old Mike Dillard was dead.</p>
<p>Months later I would meet my first real sponsoring mentor, Mark Wieser.<br />
With Mark’s help, I would go on to build my first real organization, personally sponsoring dozens of distributors in months.</p>
